Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, here I am, on my birthday, resolving to "get with the program!" I've had the book for about a week and a half, but I haven't read more than the first 2 pages, and that was 1 week ago! My first goal is to find some time for myself, and get into the book.

I know what I should be doing for a healthy lifestyle, but I can't seem to embrace it. Lack of exercise and lots of food, cookies, candy, they all get in the way. It doesn't help that I sit at a desk all day either! Our compound at work has 5 buildings, and there's a really nice woodsy walking trail that goes by the lake an such, but I don't want to walk on my lunch hour because I don't want to get sweaty! Some people actually walk/run at lunch and then take a shower and go right back to work! That's not my style. I wonder what is my style anyway??

I'm open to counseling on how to just "do it!'

Embrace the Walk

Good Morning!  Today I will begin my day with a walk from my house to the dentist, and then to the bus stop, a total of about a mile. This one car idea may be a blessing in disguise!

1 1/2 inches forward...

Hey everybody!  I measured my waist yesterday and was down 1 1/2 inches, to 38 1/2!  My challenge now will be to resist "rewarding" my good self with bad food, and to keep moving forward.

AGNES that meal sounds soooo good. I wish we lived closer, I would meet you there tomorrow. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK with healthy meals and increased activity!  Your yard will love you!

Today I went to a 1 hour core muscle class and spent another hour shoveling snow (the curse of owning two homes).  I also walked for at least 30 minutes in the snow. It was so nice.

Happy Birthday, Bernie!

Belated that is... Hope you had a great day!

potato salad and cheeseburger pie

here's the skinny....I am all out of excuses for my undesirable weight and out of shape ed ness (i made up that word) I'm tired of whining and crying and not taking any action. I've had the book for a half a year, at least, picked it up ONCE, and wonder why in the world do I still look and feel this way? well, enough is enough, I say! Let's get down to brass tacks, take the bull by the horns, and do this thing, girls! Does anyone have any ideas on how to start? I don't know what to do.....I know I'm whining again, but I really need help......

Challenges

Today is Ash Wednesday.  That is supposed to make it easy, right? Fasting and all that being somewhat recommended...So WHY, after I had whole grain Cheerios with skim milk for breakfast, a small bowl of vegetarian chili for lunch (along with two 15 minute brisk walks), a snack of whole grain crackers with cheese, and dinner of a small bowl of split pea soup with one piece of whole grain bread DID I JUST INDULGE IN TWO PIECES OF CINNAMON RAISIN PITA BREAD WITH BUTTER AND SPRINKLED SUGAR?  WEEP-WOW (cut to image of "Little Rascals" with that cake busting out of the oven-that is how my stomach feels inside my pants! http://www.picking.com/weepwow.wav

At the next appropriate opportunity, I will make a YOU-turn. I will focus on small changes, like having the same breakfast everyday. By next week I will figure out the same one or two lunches to have every day. Hopefully I will be able to build from there.

Some good news:  My gym just started a new class called Waga.  I think my yoga instructor invented the idea.  It is yoga in water and it starts on my birthday!

More good news.  I took the real age test and my RealAge is 48.4 years old.    CATHY, DID YOU GET THE BOOK YET?

I NEED A BUDDY TOO

Well, I just measured my waist and I can't belive it's 43 inches! OMG! No wonder I don't feel all that great. I don't even have my copy of the book yet. I really need to get on the stick and get healthy. I know that I can do this; I have been trying and failing for the last year. Once I get started I think I'll be OK; it's just the getting started I can't seem to manage. I'm going to buy the book tomorrow. That's step one! I'll be your buddy, Roberta!

Wanted: Diet Buddy

Today I created a fake email address with a gmail account and signed in to the real age website noted above.  I answered a few questions about my age, weight, waist size, etc. and was provided with an easily modifiable diet plan.

I am horrified to report that my waist size is (soon to be was) 40 inches. ~ 32 1/2 is ideal~ 37 is the point where your waist size begins to affect your health, and 40+ can seriously affect your health.  I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!  I have many more babies to kiss and sister's weekends to attend and I want to be able to enjoy it all in good health.  So, who wants to be my diet buddy?
